NEW ENGLAND CALENDAR USS MEETS

USS Meets give the swimmers the opportunity to set and achieve goals, and to swim a better variety of events with extended rest. The team enters 3-4 New England Swimming (NES) calendar meets per season, roughly one per month beginning in November. *Swimmers compete in age groups based on their ages as of the first day of the USS Meet.

ENTRY FEES, ESCORW ACCOUNTS

Entry fees are set by NES at $3.50 per individual event. Host teams will not refund fees for entered swimmers who do not swim, for any reason. Swimmers must have money in an escorw account in order to be entered in USS Meets.

ESCORW ACCOUNT DEPOSITS

Escorw deposits for Nov-Dec meets are due befor OCTOBER 1st. Escorw deposits for Jan-Feb meets are due before November 15th. Deposit $20 per day for meets you plan to enter so that you will have enough in your account when entry is due. Unused money will be returned at then end of the season. Checks payable to "Parents of BGCCL."

IF YOU DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH MONEY IN YOUR ESCORW ACCOUNT YOUR SWIMMER WILL NOT BE ENTERED IN THE MEET.

*If you want your swimmer to be entered in a limited number of events, speak to the head coach directly or make a note on you entry form.

SWIMMER ENTRIES (event)

Swimmers are entered in events on days you've checked on your form. Events are chosen based on the overall picture of a swimmer's development. Swimmers should strive to become well rounded by experiencing a variety of events, not just the ones they "like." It is never certain what they will be good at when they are older, so swimmers need to learn versatility while they are developing. Refer any questions or comments to the coaching staff directly.

Parents are responsible for knowing which meets. days, and sessions you are scheduled to swim!

*There may also be individual sheets for you to take home.

HOTEL ACCOMODATIONS

Families who choose to stay in hotels should refer to the posted meet info for references.

NEW ENGLAND CHAMPIONSHIP USS MEETS

A goal of many swimmers is to compete in the New England Championship Meets. N.E Swimming (NES) establishing qualifying times (cuts) for these meets.

*Qualifying times can be achieved at RIMA meets.

REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

Qualifying times are needed for swimmers in every age group. Swimmers with Age Group qualifying times may NOT swim those events at Regionals.

AGE GROUP CHAMPIONSHIPS

The highest level of Age Group competition in New England. Swimmers who qualify will compete with the best of the best in their age group from our region.

QUALIFYING TIMES & BEST TIMES POSTED ON BOARDS

ALL SWIMMERS who achieve cut times for chamionships will automatically be entered-even if they did not swim in a USS Meet. Parents are responsible for tracking your swimmer's progress, so that you are prepared to attend these meets, and pay the fees. It is an achievement for any swimmer to qualify for NE Championships, so they should be given the opportunity to swim, even if only in 1 or 2 events!

*If your child qualifies for a NE Championship meet, you must inform the head coach well in advance if you will NOT attend.

CHAMPIONSHIP ESCORW FEES: ALL INFO POSTED

Coaches might be able to contact those who qualify, but parents are ultimately responsible for being informed. Track your child's progress and deposit money if you think he/she may qualify for a championship meet(s). Remember, any unused money will be returned to you- but you would hate to see your child not be entered in a meet that they qualified for because you did not know and did not deposit money in escrow.

*There is an additional NES surchare of $1 per swimmer per championship meet.

Swimmers who qualify for championship meets will be entered in relays at the discretion of the coaches. Relay fees are divided between the swimmers entered. This is another reason to inform the coaches well in advance if you know you will NOT be attending a meet which your child has qualifyed for.
